How To Get Children to Fall Asleep

Lavender and mandarin are well liked by children and they have historically been used in a hand or foot massage before bedtime. Many children enjoy a hand or foot massage.
A drop or two of an essential oil on a pillow case is another great way to use essential oils when the child has a hard time falling asleep. When my children are congested or suffer from a cough, I put essential oils on a cotton-wool ball and tuck it in inside the pillow case.
Historically, these relaxing oils have also been used for bedtime:
Bergamot, chamomile, clary sage, frankincense, geranium, and marjoram.
Please refer to the dilution chart to make sure what oils are suitable for your child's age.
Before you leave:
I recommend that you always perform a skin patch test when you try a new oil.
Check out my safety page to make sure you are aware of any contrindications before you use essential oils. Some oils are not suitable when suffering from certain conditions. Also, Read this Before You Start Using Essential oils. Some oils should not be applied prior to sun exposure so make sure you check this list before spending time in the sun.
