Essential Oils for Skin Care - Combination Skin

Combination skin is a mixture of dry skin with oily patches on the t-zone, and that's where the sebaceous glands are most prevalent. It is best to treat each area separately with the right kind of essential oils.

Combination skin tends to be:

  • subject to blackheads and dilated pores in the T-zone area while other areas are being fined grained.
  • partly dry and partly oily.

According to Battaglia, geranium and palmarosa have a balancing effect on the sebaceous glands, and they have traditionally been considered the most useful oils. He also says other oils that may be  used are lavender, sandalwood, and neroli.

Apricot kernel, jojoba or evening primrose oils are have traditionally been used for combination skin according to Battaglia.

Make your own ointments, creams, facial gels, and toners using the essential oils and base oils mentioned above.
